Gilbert Trefzger  was born in 1974 from an egyptian mother and a swiss father. He started playing guitar at the age of nine. He studied guitar at the Jazz Departement of the Conservatory in Basel and in Paris.
He is a diverse instrumentalist and covers many styles of music, playing guitar, steelguitar, aoud (arabic luth) and banjo.
He is also a composer and is currently co-writing on the musical project OKOU with singer Tatiana Heintz.
His versatility and creative approach has led him to work and play with different artists, collaborate on movie soundtracks and also write music for theatre and films. He lives in Basel, Berlin, Paris.
